Onward & Upward Eagle Extra

Dear Mighty Eagle Families,
What a fantastic first week at Pasadena High School!
Almost 300 parents joined us at our Parent Expo with 24 community partners, thank you for making it such a success. Our Freshman First Day was also a great kickoff as students toured the campus, met their teachers, and explored over 42 student organizations. If your child is not yet part of an organization, I encourage them to join. Being involved in a group is one of the best ways to make high school meaningful and memorable!
Last week, our staff also hit the streets for our annual You Matter Walk, knocking on doors to remind students that they matter, school matters, and showing up every day matters. Telemundo Houston even joined us to share the story ( Link to Video )
As we move forward, please help us by reinforcing a few key reminders:
-
Cell Phones: Per state law (HB 1481), devices must be put away during the school day. Students may use them after 2:36 p.m.
-
Dress Code & IDs: Please check your student each morning. IDs are being distributed now.
-
Attendance: Consistent attendance builds habits that last a lifetime. Every day counts!
-
Annual Enrollment: All student parents/guardians, please complete the Annual Enrollment documents in skyward. Details below.
Thank you for your partnership and support. Let’s keep building on this strong start and make 2025–2026 a year to remember!
With Eagle pride,
Steven Friend
Principal, Pasadena High School

New State Law: Personal Devices Must Be Out of Sight During School Hours
Governor Greg Abbott has officially signed Texas House Bill 1481 into law. This legislation requires that all personal communication devices be stored out of sight during the school day. Students may use them after 2:36 p.m
This includes:
- Cellphones
- Bluetooth Headphones(Airpods)
- Personal Laptops or iPads
- Smartwatches
Let's continue working together to keep our classrooms distraction-free and focused on student success and meaningful teacher engagement. Thank you for supporting a productive learning environment.

We believe in you. And we believe that being present every day builds habits that last a lifetime.
Being in school every day matters. It’s not just about grades or test scores it’s about building the habits that lead to success in school, in work, and in life.
What the Research Says:
- Missing just 2 days a month (even excused) adds up to 18+ days a year that’s a full month of learning missed.
- Students with strong attendance are 7x more likely to graduate on time.
- Regular attendance is linked to higher GPA, better test scores.
Why It Matters for Life:
Attendance is more than a school habit—it’s a life skill.
When students build the habit of showing up now, they’re laying the foundation for a future where they’re prepared, dependable, and resilient.
Goal:
We’re challenging every Eagle to aim for 95% attendance or higher. That means showing up even on tough days. Your attendance is more than a number... it’s a reflection of YOU!
