How to Register for the SAT/ACT

As you register, choose your universities to send your score to. With the ACT waiver you get 4 free reports, and with the SAT you get 8. If you do not choose schools at the time of registering, you only have a small window of time to go back and add the schools at a charge of $11.00.

  • Go to the College Board website:

    • Register for the SAT
    • Click Register Now
    • Not a member yet? Follow instructions for User Name and Password
    • After filling in information for “New User,” write down your username and password for future registration or other SAT needs.
    • Click SAT Reg. and Scores
    • Click New Registration
    • Fill in all questions asked
    • Have credit card available for payment (Mastercard or Visa)

    READ AND FOLLOW DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY. YOU MUST FILL IN ALL NECESSARY INFORMATION. THE PROGRAM WILL NOT LET YOU GO ANY FURTHER WITHOUT THE INFORMATION.

    Please note: The majority of students are required to ONLY take the SAT I Reasoning Test. The SAT Subject Tests are only required for highly selective schools that request applicants to take Subject Tests, in addition to the Reasoning Test. Before registering for the SAT Subject Tests, check the college/university website to verify this test is required. If you register for the wrong test you will be charged a fee to change, and/or you may not be able to switch exams on the date of the test if extra tests are not available.

  • Go to the ACT website:

    • Click on “The Test”
    • Click on the registration link
    • Have credit card available for payment (Mastercard or Visa)
    • Follow directions carefully
    • Students should register for the ACT with writing, as most schools require this. Check the college/university websites to verify which test they require.
