SUMMER EDITION

July 18, 2025

A Message From Principal Mr.Friend

New Principal

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year!

Dear Pasadena High School Families,
I hope your summer was filled with time to rest, reconnect, and make lasting memories. As we prepare to launch another school year at Pasadena High School, I want to extend my warmest welcome to our returning families and those joining us for the first time.
This year marks the beginning of my 16th year at Pasadena High School and my first start to a school year as principal. I’m truly honored to serve the school that helped shape me, and I’m committed to leading with heart, purpose, and partnership.
Our Vision for 2025–2026
At Pasadena High School, we believe in more than academics, we believe in family, community, and connection.
My goal is to ensure every student feels seen, every family feels valued, and every corner of our campus reflects the strength and pride of our Pasadena community that we all serve. This is a place where students grow not just in knowledge, but in courage, responsibility and respect. That’s what we’re building together.
Why We’re Proud
Let me take a moment to share a few reasons we’re starting this year with pride and momentum from 2024/25 school year:
  • Over $12,000,000 dollars in scholarships earned last year
  • Named a Distinguished Early College Campus by the state
  • Designated a Model PLC Campus
  • Recognized as a Model CREST School for excellence in counseling
  • Over 750 in industries Certifications were earned by students
  • STAAR and AP scores are up across the board, with one of the highest AP enrollments in the district
  • More athletic teams made the playoffs last year than in the past decade
  • 8 student-athletes signed to compete in NCAA Athletics
  • BPA had 27 students compete at state and two at nationals
  • Our Math Team went to state for the first time in 20 years
  • Our fine arts, ROTC, FFA, and 40 student organizations are thriving
  • Named one of the healthiest schools in Texas
  • We are an AVID Schoolwide Site
These aren’t just stats they're proof that our students are rising, our staff is leading, and our families are making it possible.
Staying Connected
We know that when schools and families work together, great things happen. That’s why we are committed to building strong relationships with our Eagle families.
We will continue using ParentSquare as our main communication tool for announcements, reminders, and updates.
Get Involved – We Need You
We invite you to partner with us this year, whether that’s attending the Parent Expo on August 13, volunteering, cheering at games, joining a committee, buying fundraising merchandise, or simply checking in.
Pasadena High School isn’t just a school it’s a community. You are part of it!

To every student reading this: We believe in you. We see your potential, and we’re here to help you soar higher than ever before!

With Eagle Pride That Never Dies,

Attendance Matters!

Showing up matters. Every day counts!

Because Your Future Shows Up When You Do

We believe in you. And we believe that being present every day builds habits that last a lifetime.
Being in school every day matters. It’s not just about grades or test scores it’s about building the habits that lead to success in school, in work, and in life.
Whether you're:
  • A student working hard to pass your classes,
  • Or a high-achiever striving for scholarships and college acceptances
  • Showing up matters. Every day counts!
What the Research Says:
  • Missing just 2 days a month (even excused) adds up to 18+ days a year that’s a full month of learning missed.
  • Students with strong attendance are 7x more likely to graduate on time.
  • Regular attendance is linked to higher GPA, better test scores
Why It Matters for Life:
Attendance is more than a school habit—it’s a life skill.
  • Employers notice who shows up.
  • Colleges track commitment.
  • Families and communities thrive when we can count on each other.
When students build the habit of showing up now, they’re laying the foundation for a future where they’re prepared, dependable, and resilient.
Goal:
We’re challenging every Eagle to aim for 95% attendance or higher. That means showing up even on tough days. Your attendance is more than a number ... it’s a reflection of YOU!
