100 Years of Eagle Pride
Pasadena High School was founded in 1923 and has a rich history of excellence and tradition. From humble beginnings on a plowed field to a state-of-the-art athletic complex, the Eagles have built a legacy of achievement and school spirit.
Our History
The first graduating class in 1924 consisted of just three boys and three girls. Today, Pasadena High School serves hundreds of students across five comprehensive high schools in our district. Throughout our century of tradition, the Eagle has remained our proud symbol, and our community continues to celebrate the values of hard work, discipline, and character that define us.
The Crosstown Rivalry
Burn Sam Bonfire & Parade
One of Pasadena ISD's richest traditions is the crosstown rivalry between Pasadena High School and Sam Rayburn High School. Each year, students celebrate this spirited competition with:
- Burn Sam Bonfire — A legendary pre-game celebration
- Parade to Veterans Memorial Stadium — Students, staff, and community members march together in school colors
- Game Day Energy — Packed stadiums and fierce but friendly competition
This tradition brings our community together and reminds us what it means to be an Eagle.
School Spirit
Eagles take pride in representing their school through:
- Athletic competition — Supporting teams in football, volleyball, basketball, and all sports
- Fine arts performances — Celebrating music, theatre, and dance
- Spirit days — Wearing school colors and showing Eagle pride
