Pasadena High School CTE programs are open to students who meet basic eligibility requirements. Students can begin in any grade and complete the remaining courses in their pathway.

How to Enroll

Step 1: Explore the 12 Programs

Review PAGE 2: PROGRAMS to learn about available pathways. Consider your interests, strengths, and career goals.

Step 2: Talk to Your School Counselor

Meet with your counselor to choose a pathway and understand course sequences, requirements, and certification opportunities.

Step 3: Attend Information Sessions or Visit Classrooms

Information sessions may include instructor meetings, facility tours, and conversations with current students. Visit classrooms to see student work and learn about the program.

Step 4: Complete Enrollment Paperwork

Once you've chosen a program, complete the CTE Program Enrollment Form, Parent/Guardian Consent Form, and Physical Evaluation Documentation. JROTC students complete additional forms.

Step 5: Register for Your First Course

Register for your first CTE course during course selection. Ninth graders typically begin with the Principles course; students in grades 10-12 start with the appropriate course for their grade.

Maintain Your GPA

Maintain a satisfactory GPA, typically 2.0 minimum, to remain enrolled. GPA is monitored each grading period.

Probation Policy

If your GPA falls below satisfactory levels, you'll be placed on probation for the next semester. Progress is monitored, and competition or field-trip participation may be limited.

Grade Recovery

You have one grading period to improve your grades. Instructors and your counselor will create an improvement plan with you.

Conduct Expectations

Follow school rules and maintain professional conduct in CTE classes and throughout school, especially while wearing a uniform.

Disenrollment

Students may be disenrolled for failing a CTE course, inability to develop leadership or technical skills, or consistently poor attitude.

• Internships & Job Shadowing - Many programs include work-based learning with local employers; participation may be required

• Field Trips & Industry Visits - CTE programs organize visits to local businesses, healthcare facilities, and industry partners to expose you to professional environments

• CTSO Participation - Join SkillsUSA, HOSA, FFA, DECA, or BPA for leadership, competitions, and networking; participation is encouraged but not required

• Competitions & Events - CTE students can participate in local, state, and national competitions to showcase skills and earn recognition

• Attendance at CTE Events - You're expected to attend CTE functions, competitions, field trips, and special events

Physical Requirements

• Current School Physical Required - An annual school physical must be on file before participation

• Ability to Participate Fully - You must be physically capable of program activities, including physical education and hands-on training

• JROTC Fitness Testing - Marine Corps JROTC students take the YPFT twice annually; tests include push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups or flexed-arm hang, broad jump, and shuttle run. Passing scores are required for rank advancement

• Parental Consent - Parents/guardians must provide written consent for participation in CTE activities, field trips, and work-based learning experiences
