What Is Early College High School?

Early College High School is a four-year program that allows students to earn a high school diploma and an Associate Degree at the same time. PECHS partners with San Jacinto College to provide a carefully planned sequence of high school and college courses.

During freshman and sophomore year, students take college courses on their zoned high school campus while receiving the support of a small learning community. During junior and senior year, students take most or all of their coursework at San Jacinto College and complete the requirements for an Associate Degree.

By graduation, students are prepared to transfer to a four-year university, continue toward a bachelor’s degree, or pursue a career with college credentials already earned.

Early College High School was created to expand access to college for first-generation students and other students historically underrepresented in higher education. PECHS remains open to every eligible student who is prepared to do the work.
