As we close the first six weeks of the 2026–2027 school year, I want to speak directly to every parent and student about two things that cannot wait:  grades and attendance 

Please log in to Skyward today and look at your student's grades. Do not assume everything is fine. Pull up every class and see exactly where your student stands.

Here is something important to understand about how grades work at PHS. The semester is made up of three six-weeks grading periods, and all three are averaged together for the final grade. That means the first six weeks is not the end of the story. A student who struggled in the first six weeks can absolutely recover by earning stronger grades in the second and third grading periods. But recovery starts now, not at the end of the semester.

I need every family to understand this clearly. Attendance is tied directly to whether your student receives credit for their classes. Under Texas law, students must be present for at least 90% of class days to earn credit. It does not matter if absences are excused. It does not matter if the student is passing. If your student reaches 19 absences in any class for the school year, they will have to repeat that class.

Please visit studentmightyeagles.org today and check your student's absence hours . Many of our students are in a good place. But some are closer to that line than their families know. Check today while there is still time to make a change.

All Must complete Annual Enrollment! As of today 85% of Parents/Guardians have completed the beginning of the year Annual Student Registration documents in Skyward for their student. 

Before submitting your registration, double check your household income information. Accurate information ensures your child is considered for every program and service they may qualify for throughout the school year. Most benefits are tied to parents/guardians income.

Our goal is for every Eagle to graduate with more than a diploma. We encourage every student to enroll in at least one Career & Technical Education (CTE) pathway and earn an industry certification before graduation. Whether your child's future includes college, the military, or the workforce, an industry certification provides real-world skills and opens doors to career opportunities from day one.
