A Message From Principal Friend

Eagle Families,
It is hard to believe we are already at the final week of the school year. This year has been full of growth, accomplishments, challenges, celebrations, and memories that we will carry with us for years to come. Thank you to our students, staff, and families for the support, partnership, and commitment you have shown throughout the year.
As we close out the school year, we need everyone to help us finish strong.
Students, attendance still matters this week. Final exams, grade verification, credit recovery, and attendance requirements are all still in place. Please make sure you are showing up every day, arriving on time, and completing all remaining assignments and exams.

Parents, please continue checking Skyward, talking with your student about grades, attendance, and final exam expectations, and helping us reinforce school expectations through the last day.
🔹 Final Week Expectations
  • Students must continue following dress code expectations.
  • IDs must be worn and visible at all times.
  • Cell phone Law remain in place during instructional time.
  • No backpacks will be allowed during the final week of school.
  • Students should only bring necessary school items for exams and classroom activities.
  • Tablets will be picked up this week
  • Students must leave campus at the end of the school day unless they are directly supervised for a school activity, tutorial, practice, or event.

Parents, we ask for your support with this expectation. During the last week of school, students can sometimes become overly excited. To help us keep campus safe, structured, and focused, students should be picked up on time and should not remain on campus after dismissal unless they are involved in a supervised school activity.

Our goal is to finish the year safely, positively, and with Eagle Pride.

To our seniors and graduating families—congratulations. We are proud of you and excited for what comes next.

To all of our Eagle families, thank you for trusting us with your students this year. We hope everyone has a safe, restful, and well-deserved summer break filled with family, memories, and opportunities to recharge.

Eagle Pride Never Dies.

Key Reminders

Court Filing for Non-Attendance

Texas Compulsory Attendance Law
Under Texas Education Code Law, students ages 6–19 must attend school every day that instruction is offered unless they qualify for a legal exemption. Parents are legally responsible for ensuring their child attends school.

When Absences Become Truancy
Truancy is based on unexcused absences.
A student is considered truant if they have:
  • 3 unexcused absences within a 4-week period, or
  • 10 unexcused absences within a 6-month period

What the School Must Do?
By law, schools must:
  1. Notify parents about absences
  2. Attempt to hold attendance conferences with measures of support.

Court Filing for Non-Attendance
If absences continue after interventions:
  • The school is required by law to file a truancy case in court
  • Both the student and parent/guardian are required to appear in court
Courts may order:
  • Mandatory school attendance
  • Counseling or services
  • Fines or other court-directed actions

Our Goal
Our goal is not court involvement it is student success. We want every student in class, learning, and on track for graduation. If your child is struggling with attendance, please contact the school counselor our Assistant Principal so we can help early.

Attendance today builds success tomorrow.
