CHILDREN AT RISK, an organization that specializes in addressing issues that affect Texas’ youth, has named 13 Pasadena ISD campuses as Gold Ribbon Schools.

In order for campuses to qualify for the award, 75 percent or more students must be classified as low-income and the school must earn an A or B grade from the organization.

Schools are graded based on the following criteria:

-student performance on STAAR tests,

-student improvement in performance on STAAR tests over the past school year,

-student performance in relation to campuses with similar levels of poverty,

-and rates of high school graduation and participation in college-readiness programs.

“I’m so proud of our teachers and students,” said Stephen Harding, principal at Pomeroy Elementary. “This is the third time we have earned the award in the past few years.”
